Is it acceptable to install bronze or brass threaded valves on black steel pipe without a dielectric fitting or union?

For plumbing purposes, yes, bronze and brass are considered 'similar' metals to copper and to steel pipe. I say 'similar' metals as bronze and brass are not considered to be "dissimilar" metals, making 'similar' the remaining alternative.

Brass and bronze are used to separate dissimilar metals (such as steel and copper) from one another as brass and bronze are alloys of copper and zinc.
