EXPLODING WATER HEATERS!

Hi All,

This link goes to the Watts Regulator Company ( http://www.watts.com/ ) video produced in 1939 showing the dangers with water heaters which are not properly protected with BOTH temperature and pressure relief valves.

Since the Watts research done back then, virtually every code today (if not every code, there may be some in other countries without this requirement) requires both temperature and pressure relief valves, or a combination temperature and pressure relief valve, to be installed on all water heaters and boilers.

Even with those requirements, approximately 30 to 40 water heaters across the US explode each year, usually older tanks with improper protection, tanks with the protection by-passed (temperature and pressure relief valve with the valve outlet intentionally plugged with a screw in plug or many other reasons I've seen, both intentional and non-intentional), however, some are newer tanks in newer homes, gas water heaters and electric water heaters.

Here is the link to the Watts Explosion - Danger Lurks! video: http://www.AskCodeMan.com/movies/Watts_ ... _Lurks.wmv

Hope you enjoy watching the video - remember it was filmed in 1939, not only is it fun to watch, but it is very informative too.
