I believe all piping and fittings must be NIST certified to comply with plumbing code in new construction. That being said is there a certification required for assemblies like traps?

Is there anything in the Plumbing code that would prohibit using 2 NIST certified 90's and a pvc nipple to construct a trap? Obviously this would probably hold solids but is it prohibited?

Sounds like you are describing a trap used for a clothes washer standpipe ... but installed elsewhere.

Most traps are of the slip ring type too allow disassembly of the trap for cleaning and unclogging ... the slip ring fittings are required to be accessible and no cleanout at the trap is necessary.

For traps which cannot be disassembled for cleaning, the trap needs to be removable (does not include cutting the trap out) or needs a proper cleanout at the trap.

I didn't have access to the code earlier, here is the code:
- P3005.2.10 Cleanout equivalent.
- - A fixture trap or a fixture with integral trap, readily removable without disturbing concealed piping shall be acceptable as a cleanout equivalent.

I haven't seen an AHJ yet which would consider 'cutting a trap out' equivalent to being 'readily removable'.

Taking joints apart to remove a trap (joints which are intended to be taken apart to permit a trap to be removed) ... no problem.

Taking joints apart which were not intended to be taken apart to remove a trap ... that would be like cutting pipe - 'NOT readily removable'.
