Swimming pool "bonding" started out as "grounding" in the 1960s, and then the terminology, and methodology, transformed to "bonding", then "bonding" became "bonding" and "equipotential plane" came into the code along with "bonding".
It will be easier to start with a year you are questioning, then I can go back from that point for a few editions.
